Quitting Schedule
English:

How Does it work?

The Scheduled Reduced Strategy is a behavioral treatment program. It requires smokers to follow a gradual reduction schedule for roughly three weeks before they quit. During the pre-quit period, smokers are instructed to follow a schedule and smoke only at specific times of the day. For example, a smoker who smokes a pack of cigarettes and is awake 16 hours a day is given a schedule to smoke every 45 minutes on his or her first pre-quit day (daily total = 20 cigarettes). As the pre-quit period progresses, the time between cigarettes is gradually lengthened. This is done to help with planned reductions in smoking frequency across the period.
